Abstract for 7. FATALITY OF HUMAN DESTINY AND ITS IMPACTS IN GEORGE ELIOT’S SILAS MARNER

Basing on some Christians’ behaviour in George Eliot’s Silas Marner, it is shown that human being believes that his destiny is controlled by God, by contrast to the African proverb which states that every man is the is the architect of his own future. But, unfortunately, the belief in God has had both good and bad impacts in the novel, which lets admit that this belief does not compel some Christians not to behave badly towards their neighbours.
